Craftsteak

Celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio has brought his distinctive vision of the American steakhouse to Las Vegas. Craftsteak's ingredient-driven menu features the highest quality meats and produce, presented with minimal interference as a la carte options to best showcase the integrity of their farm-fresh flavors. Chef Colicchio's standard of excellence is evident in all aspects of the restaurant: its extensive selection of Kobe and Wagyu beef, its 200 bottle collection of premium scotches and whiskies, and its diverse variety of seasonal sides and entrees prepared with reverence by Executive Chef Matt Seeber and his skilled team. Craftsteak is a welcome reminder of the wealth of potential that resides within the application of caring and thoughtful restraint.

Craftsteak

At Craftsteak, Celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio brings his distinctive culinary ideology to the MGM Grand.  Headed by Executive Chef Matt Seeber, this latest Colicchio incarnation pares down the classic American steakhouse to its essence with an ingredient-driven menu that exemplifies the eloquent and satisfying simplicity of farm-fresh flavors.  Designed by notable architectural firm, Bentel and Bentel Architects, the warm and inviting dining room creates a subtly stunning backdrop for displaying Chef Seeber’s seasonal creations.

Craftsteak cultivates an aesthetic that combines Vegas swank with a homey accessibility.  Bentel and Bentel Architects’ design juxtaposes sumptuous materials like leather and bronze with more plain ones like muslin for a dining space that is a visual representation of the  restaurant’s emphasis on the simple yet sophisticated pleasures to be found in pure, unadulterated ingredients.  The large, wood-laden bar with its staggering selection of over 200 bottles of premium scotches, whiskeys, and bourbons greets diners with the invitation to congregate in cozy lounge seating and circular wooden tables.   The dining room itself opens up from the lively close quarters of the lounge with surprising expansiveness.  Deep, recessed booths secluded between mesh curtains line the walls, while more open circular and square wooden tables offer seating in the very heart of the restaurant’s lively and convivial culinary activity.

Nowhere is Craftsteak’s ideology more evident than in the thoughtful and unique organization of its menu.  Designed to encourage sharing, each component of the meal is served in large, family-style portions and is not only separated according to course, but is also categorized by food group and cooking preparation to better facilitate mixing and matching.  It is a menu that promotes conversation and exploration, inviting diners to take a more active role in their dining experience.

Upon seating, we are presented with a selection of seasonal salads that showcase the current offerings of the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market, where Craftsteak obtains all of its produce.  The Avocado Salad juxtaposes the creaminess of the halved and sliced Pinkerton avocado with the crispness of cucumbers and red onions for a refreshing beginning.  The yuzu and Tabasco accents in the dressing brighten the flavors, enhancing the richness of the avocado and the clean, cool cucumber.

The Hamachi Salad pairs seasonal citrus with the smooth, slightly smoky flavors of yellowtail for a truly unique dish.  Sections of blood orange and grapefruit mingle with chunks of pinkish hamachi in a tangle of fennel curlicues on the plate.  The sweet tartness of the citrus and the slight anise notes of the young fennel add a spring-like clarity to the creamy fish for a delicate yet potently flavorful dish.
The Frisee and Bacon Salad and Arugula with Shaved Pecorino both emphasize the sublime pleasures to be found in the freshest, purest ingredients.  The salty, smoky bacon deepens the flavors of the first salad and accentuates the frisee’s inherent ethereal character while the pairing of the pecorino with the arugula in the second salad intensifies the nutty bitterness of the greens.

The Porchetta epitomizes the importance of house made ingredients in the cuisine of Craftsteak.  Made from a roast suckling pig, the pork is rolled with pistachios, fat back bacon, and a variety of spices and then sliced impossibly thin, giving it the appearance of mortadella, and then is drizzled with truffle vinaigrette to enhance its earthiness.  While the flavors of the Porchetta are deep and almost wintry, the thin-sliced presentation manages to infuse the dish with an extraordinary lightness.  The Porchetta showcases the skills of the Craftsteak kitchen, blending a kind of Old World rusticity with culinary elegance.

The Pan Roasted Diver Scallops are a revelation in the expert simplicity of the Craftsteak menu.  The massive scallops are the essence of freshness: dry packed without chemicals and used within three days of being caught, they are free of the chewy fishiness that can plague a lesser quality product.  Their buttery texture and sweetness are amplified by the lemon and fennel broth they’re immersed in.  Although simple in construction, the intensity of the flavors derived from the high quality ingredients make the Scallops a truly memorable meal.

A trip to Craftsteak would not be complete without sampling its high quality beef.  We are served a Kobe Skirt Steak and a Kobe Rib Eye, each presented modestly in a cast iron dish.   The expert preparation of each steak accentuates their inherent distinctions and beautifully showcases their supreme quality.  The Skirt Steak is robust and smoky while the rich, marbled Rib Eye offers intensely juicy succulence.  It is clear from these two cuts of meat where Craftsteak gets its name: elevating the simple steak to the heights of culinary craft.
An assortment of deceptively simple sides accompanies our steaks: Sugar Snap Peas with shredded ricotta, a medley of Mushrooms, Puree of Yukon Gold Potatoes, and Battered Squash Blossoms.  The staggering size of the bright green sugar snap peas captures the attention first.  Sweet and crunchy, with a hint of richness from the ricotta, these inflated, plump vegetables are a celebration of freshness and act as a convincing argument in favor of holding out for optimum seasonal ripeness.

The roasted Mushrooms are an exploration in the earthy diversity and feature a wide variety including hen of the woods, shiitakes, and shimejis.  They are as rich and smoky as the sugar snap peas are bright and crisp, and are well paired with the hearty flavors of the beef.

The Puree of Potatoes proves impossibly creamy, enriched by a generous helping of butter and olive oil to aid in the velvety texture.  A sprinkling of chives adds a subtle pungency to the starchy, cloud-like texture, reminding taste buds of homey comforts.

In stark contrast to the silken potatoes, the Battered Squash Blossoms crackle with textural crunch.  Large, golden fried squash blossoms are arranged on the plate around a small container of creamy chipotle sauce.  The thick sauce clings to the blossoms, settling into the fried nooks of the batter and balancing the light, slightly floral crispness with its smoky spice.

An array of Craftsteak’s creative desserts rounds out our meal.  Unlike the more straightforward savory dishes that have preceded them, these sweet treats combine unusual and novel ingredients.  The Jasmine Pannacotta, for example, is an enigmatic concoction, pairing crisp Asian pear with almonds, and rose water with the creamy Italian-style custard for a sweetly delicate and mysteriously exotic confection.
Unlike the subtle Pannacotta, the Cinnamon Toffee Monkey Bread with Caramel Ice Cream embodies all of the rich comforts of a home-baked sticky bun.  The miniature bundt cake permeates the air, and the taste buds, with the smoky spice of cinnamon and the nuttiness of toffee.  The Caramel Ice Cream accompanying it adds additional notes of sweet indulgence.

Craftsteak’s take on Rice Pudding, the newest addition to the menu, transforms the standard dessert with South East Asian flavors and an inspired presentation.  In this version, the creamy sweetness of the rice pudding acts as a filling for crisp, golden fried wontons and makes for a delightfully surprising textural juxtaposition.  A brilliant yellow sour pineapple sorbet adds a tropical hint to the dish.

The Liquid Chocolate Cake with Pistachio Ice Cream promises true decadence.  A dark mound of chocolate cake erupts with equally rich chocolate lava when cut with the fork, spilling out around the scoop of ice cream.  The pistachio’s nuttiness cuts through the intense sweetness of the chocolate, contributing a welcome saltiness to the dessert.

As a suitably indulgent palate cleanser, we are offered a rainbow-colored selection of Craftsteak’s Sorbets.  Classic flavors like Strawberry, Chocolate, and Lemon hold their own against more unique and inventive sorbets like Pineapple, Roasted Pineapple, Grape, and Orange Basil.  Light and cool, each is an explosion of flavor, distilling the essence of each ingredient to its purest most concentrated taste.

From its innovative, seasonally-inspired menu to its elegantly unpretentious décor, Craftsteak is driven by a powerful ideology: its goal is to take dinner out of the realm of mere sustenance and to re-establish it as an excuse for gathering together and participating in a collective culinary event.  The resulting dining experience is both nostalgic and ground-breaking, recalling the comforts of a family meal while pushing the epicurean envelope by exposing diners to new flavors and ever-changing ingredients.

Craftsteak

As a local, Im always searching for the best steak in town. This is it. I have had 4 different cuts here and all were amazing. Also, the appetizers, sides, and desserts were perfect. If you like simple, top quality ingrediants, cooked and seasoned to perfection this is it. This restaurant can take the most simple dish and make it memorable. Also, best cooked scallops of my life. Best restaurant in Las Vegas. Only downside was the servie, but still a 9 of 10, and the lighting was distracting.

Excellence in Every Detail

From the service, to the pre-drinks, to the appetizers to the main course, thru to the dessert, finishing with after dinner drinks....we were in awe. The best preparation of meat ever, tastes I've never experienced. Costly, but strangly, I would be glad to pay again.

Great food and ambiance!

Great food and ambiance!

A must!!!!

Our visit to Craftsteak was super.....deliscious food, fantastic ambience, excellent service. Next time we are in Vegas we will be back for sure!!!

Awesome food

If you are considering eating a Craftsteak, you already know it isn't cheap. For your money though, you will get treated like a VIP. The service is above reproach and the food is even better than you expect it to be. Portions are realistic, not some speck in the middle of a plate if swirled sauces. The wines selection has something for everyone by the glass, bottle or half-bottle. The only negitive I can think of is having to hike through the MGM Grand to get there, but it just helps to work up an appetite. Everything I hoped for and more.

Craftsteak

This was probably THE best meal I have ever had. We chose the Chef's Waygu Menu. The chef was kind enough to accomodate my shellfish allergy when he selected our menu and served quail instead. The portions were much larger than I imagined for a chef's menu. Everything was cooked pefectly. I thought about the chocolate cake we were given for dessert for days afterward! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the ambiance and decor were fabulous. It's not cheap, but it was worth every time I paid. We will absolutely come back and I would recommend it to anyone who truly enjoys fine food.

Great Steak Dinner

The best part of this restaurant experience was the waitstaff were eceptionally good at not only recommending on the menu but there was always someone available to assist with all your dining needs. Great place and I would be happy to return.

Unbelievable!!

My wife and I renewed our vows and chose Craftsteak to celebrate. There were three of us and we all decided to go with the Chef's surf and turf tasting menu and we are glad we did. The food was exceptional! Each course had five dishes, so there was more than enough food. The Wagyu steak and lobster were unbelievable. It was a little expensive but we knew that going in to it so it was all good. We definitely feel that we got our money's worth as I can honestly say it was the best meal I have ever had. The service was great. We had two waiters and the sommelier was very nice and chose some great wine pairings with our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be returning.

Birthday Dinner Out

Food and wine was out of this world. Great Job!

Great experience

Service was exceptional, atmosphere was edgy and comfy at the same time. All of the food was awesome, there wasn't anything I would not recommend and we had it all. Worth every penny, can't wait to go back!

Craftsteak review

Great food and service meals could have been served with a little more time in between dishes to digest more. Good size portions, too much for the 4 of us to finish. We did the Kobe tasting menu - chef's choice. Everything was great, except for the fact we were servied French Fries, I would expect better from a high end restaurant and one of the dessert's was maple bacon icecream - worst thing I have ever had!

Great Food

Great Food and Atmosphere

Best meal of my life

The entire experience here was incredible. The service was outstanding, but most of all, every item ordered was presented and cooked to perfection. We got the couples steak meal where we selected three salads, two steaks, and the chef prepared three desserts. I recommend the mozzarella salad starter, skirt steak, and all desserts were great. Didn't feel like I overpaid at all. Highly recommended.

Excellent and fancy

Food was excellent and I couldn't say better about the service. Expect to pay $200 to $300 for 2 people.

Craftsteak- DELISH!

Our company makes reservations at a number of steak houses everytime we travel. In most cases the food is good, but often heavy and pedestrian. Craftsteak was a HUGE break from the norm- Everything on the menu was delish. we enjoyed that the portions were not so big, that we were able to try everything. We all agree that Craftsteak is incredible, and plan on visintg again then ext time we have a meeting in Las Vegas. I strongy suggest ordering the lobster bisque- it was unbelievable. The filet and scallops were cooked to perfection, and the side dish of corn and bacon? To die for. Our experience was well worth every penny.

birthday celebration

Craftsteak was a terrific place to celebrate our birthdays. We had the summer tasting menu which was lovely (too many fennely things though...) - the steak was perfect as were the scallops, majority of the sides as tasty. The dessert was mediocre however that was forgotten as the plates were beautifully decorated with birthday wishes! Definitely a place to go back to again. 'Wichcraft is on the list next!

Best meal so far

We've eaten at some extraordinary restaurants in Las Vegas, but this one was the most memorable: everything, from the service to the selections to the food and wine, was perfect. A must-go restaurant.

Fabulous Craftsteak!

Wonderful dining experience! I will definitely go back.

Best meal ever

This was just about the best meal we've ever had; the steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Our waiter was very polite and helpful. Expensive - yes, but well worth it.

2nd time even better than the 1st

This was my 2nd business dinner/meeting and this time I asked for a table that would allow for conversation and it worked out great. I went specifically for the chef's choice steak selection and was not disappointed, and neither were my guests. Will definitely go again during one of my future trips to LV.

Excellent Experience

Everything was excellent, food, staff, ambiance. It was expensive but worth every penny. I would return again and again.

Great Restaurant

The food was amazing, the service was outstanding, and the ambiance was nice. There were two to three servers per table and the serving stations where in the middle of the room so that they could see their customers. The atmosphere was nice and it could be business casual or dressier. I really enjoyed our family style tasting menu. You got a lot for your money and the food is outstanding.

Craftsteak

The restaurant and the food was fabulous. The restaurant is pricey, but to me who is a fan of Top Chef, it was well worth it.

Craftsteak experience.

Price is big, but quality is great, service excellent, and overall experience memorable.

Craftsteak

One of the best meals Ive had, loved this restaurant experience!! Little pricey, but I will definately dine here again next time Im in town, overall it was wonderful!

Outstanding is an understatement !

By far one of the best meals I've ever had, anywhere in the world.

Outstand dinning experience

craftsteak exceeded all expectations - one of my top three (3) places to dine in Las Vegas - great place to entertain customers- can't wait to go back!

Out Of This World Experience!

We chose the Wagyu Beef chef selection where the chef presents four selections of appetizers, desserts and selects the vegetable, potatoe and mushroom to complement the steaks. Every dish was amazing! We will be back to experience Craftsteak again!

Great night out.

My wife loved the place. Made the whole evening a pleasure.

Words can not explain

I can not say in the best of words how wonderful Craftsteak was. The food ust melted in your mouth. It was a bit pricey but worth every penny of the cost. The staff are amazing and willing to help you make any selections from the menu. The service there was Amazing. I had a wonderful birthday dinner because we chose Craftsteak. Thank you for your amazing resturaunt and we look forward to visiting you in the future!

Outstanding!

My husband and I loved the food, service and the entire experience. It is pricey (so bring your wallet), but well worth it. It is a place where memories are made. By the way the steak... it will melt in your mouth.

Great meal

The service and food were outstanding, but it was a little loud and lacked intimacy. I don't regret a single penny spent at Craft Steak and I would eat there again in a minute

Elegant and simple.

The best place you'll ever have the pleasure to eat at. It's that simple.

Terrific experience

My girlfriends and I visited Craftsteak for a special occasion. The service was top notch. Several workers attended to our every need. We ordered the Wagyu steak 3 course meal and let the chef choose the appetizer and desserts. Everything we were served was wonderful. We are still talking about the whole experience and when we should go back.

Amazing!

We had an amazing dinner experience at Craftsteak! We were impressed by the atmosphere, the menu selection, and the service. We wanted a 5 star experience at a Top Chef restaurant and we were not let down. The portion sizes were more than we could handle and the risotto as a side is must have! We had no room for dessert, but the gold-dusted chocolate truffles with our check were delicious and indulgent. When we make our way back to Las Vegas, we will be making a reservation to return.

Simply the greatest steak I've ever eaten

If you are considering a visit to Craftsteak, think no more. It was an incredible experience. The menu was fantastic and our expectations were completely blown away. The menu, however, plays second-fiddle to the waitstaff. The service was outstanding. We never felt rushed and we were always taken care of. It is expensive, so prepare yourself for that right now, but it is absolutely worth it. Two words: monkey bread. Awesome. Just awesome. Go. You won't be disappointed.

Lamb Chops were the best!

My favorite meal is the lamb chops. I have eaten them in many of restaurants in the US and across the world. These were by far, the best I have ever had. The portions are large, so make sure to save room for dessert! And P.S. If you can't find a wine you don't like, then you don't like any wine at all.

Craftsteak Restaurant, Las Vegas

Craftsteak Restaurant in the MGM is an outstanding restaurant in Las Vegas from the personal service you receive from the staff to the food. They are right on top of everything from refilling your water glasses to seeing if you want dessert. Would recommend to one and all.

Exceeded Our Expectations!!!!

We experienced Craftsteak for the first time recently and it far exceeded all the reviews we had read. We wanted an excellent meal and incredible service and we got both! We highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or when you just want a wonderful evening.

Craftsteak

From start to finish we enjoyed every moment at Craftsteak. We waited for our table at the bar and the bar tender was friendly and took the time to explain the menu. Once seated service and food was perfection! Can't wait to go back!

Emily's Dream Restuarant

I've ALWAYS wanted to go to this restaurant. I was in Vegas on a whim and made a reservation 2 hours before (I was eating early though, I wouldn't recommend doing it late). Sure, the meal is pricey, but it was completely worth it. Everything was special, from the perfectly cooked food, the excellent service, the dim, romantic lighting, and some great red wine that was recommended to me. If you're looking for a special experience to top off your trip to Vegas, I definitely recommend this restaurant

Wonderful Experience

I traveled to Las Vegas for business and was delighted to have dinner at Craftsteak! Everything was delicious and service was impeccable!

Best steak

Best steak in Vegas!!! Best steak I've ever had.

Best steakhouse in Vegas!

My dining experience at Craftsteak was excellent. The Kobe Filet was mouth watering and prepared perfectly. The restaurant has a nice relaxing vibe to it so you could enjoy the food & take in the atmosphere. The servers were pleasant and kept watch on what you needed so we didn't have to ask for anything. I highly recommend Craftsteak. Everything we ate was delicious! I will be dining here again and will look for Craftsteak in other cities when I'm traveling.

Craftsteak

100%

Great dining experience from reservation to depart

It is worth it!

Food made up for lack of good service.

I planned eating at Craftsteak for several months as I am a huge fan of Tom Colicchio. The food was outstanding from the sea salted parkerhouse rolls to the amazing braised shortribs to the all the delicious sides we shared. The portions were perfect. Everyone was able to share a bit if this and that and enjoyed the meal. The service was not what I expected as I feel that the staff could have been more attentive. The food made up for what lacked in service easy to overlook.

Awesome menu selection and delicious food

Service was a little slow and lacked attentiveness considering the price but the food itself was outstanding.

Craftsteak

Tom's restaurant was exactly what was I was hoping for and exactly the meal we wanted. Three of us ate, and we had ate more than enough food. In fact, the waiter was amazing and nice enough to foil up our food for a late dinner snack the next day (we left Vegas for the great outdoors and a small cottage). Food was spot on and simple. Definitely try the wagyu tartare and the hamachi appetizer. Simple, direct, fresh, and delicious. Great ambience, a little dark. Great Bourbon and Scotch list... and wines, too! Enjoy!

craftsteak

craftsteak easily had one of the best steaks in town delicious sides and impeccable service. if i had to complain about something, it would be the noise level. the only reason i say this is because i found craftsteak after looking up las vegas romantic restaurants. other than that great place to eat

Great meal

This was our first time at Craftsteak. I was prepared for the price as I was warned in advance by friends. We ordered the prefix meals for two. The variety of food they brought was vast. They customized it to our taste. If I had to do it over, I would have ordered alacart. The meal for two was enough for four. This came at a hefty price though, but it's Vegas we knew what we were getting into. Service was great and made our special evening something to remember. Would like to eat here again and would recommend to friends.

Good Food Lousey service

The food was good, although I have had a more tender filet and did not pay $50 for it... the waiter was not proffesional and actually asked for ID for a martini when we are CLEARLY over 21 yrs old, thought that was tacky for a 5 star restuarant and frankly it ruined my experience. I am such a HUGE fan of Top CHef and I guess just expected a little more. Also it was my husbands 31st b-day and he got a free dessert that was dates and sour chocolate, come on... $600 meal and we get a cheap free dessert- would not recommend.

Rating 4-$ not 3-$ as many say.

Great food and service. Many web sites and third party reviews give this restaurants great remarks but show it with a $$$ level when this should be a solid $$$$.

Craftsteak Restaurant

It is nice restaurant with a good ambiance. Food quality was good, but be careful about wines..

Craftsteak - May 2011

My wife and I ate here on her first trip to Vegas. We had the lobster bisque, the diver sea scallops and the NY strip. All were very good but I could not help but expect a little more from the bisque...esp. for $18/bowl. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and the scallops were great. Finished off the meal with a martini. Overall a great visit.

Steak and mushrooms

Steak was good sides were great

A great experience

Overall a great experience. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice restaurant experience while in Vegas. Great food, great service and a great ambiance.

Fantastic Service

Service for a large group was extraordinary. Food and drinks were great. A little pricey, but overall, a super experience.

Disappointed

After waiting to be seated (with a reservation) while several walk ins were seated, we had to check in again before we were taken to the worst seat in the house. If the waioter had not stepped in and provided a decent table, we would have left. The hostest was rude and arrogant. Dress code sent to us was not uphels and I wonder why i packed the extra clothes to comply with said dress code. Food was good with great flavor. Steak did have excess tendons but the amount was plentiful so we we had plenty to eat. The experiance would have been better but it started off poor which makes it hard to overcome. Next time I am in Vegas, I'll try something else.

Too expensive for the end product

for the price you pay for a steak, it should be prepared to your requested liking.

1stnlast

Food was pretty good, not really good, tried the Waegu steak, prefer ribeye, sides were overpriced

Which waiter is ours??

I guess the trend these days is to have more than one person work the table. I, myself, prefer to have one person to rely on. Also, business casual attire - in my book - does not include t-shirts.... That being said, once we were recognized, the meal went quite well. Good food and a very good selection of drinks to choose from. Out party will remember Craftsteak as a fairly decent restaurant. We will be back!

Expected More

After watching almost every season of Top Chef we expected Craftsteak to be more than what it offered. The food was good. The steak was very tender and had a lot of flavor - clean flavors, not a lot of fuss. The lobster bisque was amazing... huge chucks of lobster and a very smooth & flavorful base. The sides we had (brussel sprouts w/ bacon & the baked califlower) had a great flavor and gnerally appealing apperance. So, food overall was good, presentation was lacking however. Also, the atmosphere was somewhat disconcerting. There were some people that had the Fat Tuesday Plastic Margaritta landyards which you would think a restaurant of this calibur would disallow. Also, a woman was walking around taking pictures which we found to be disconcerting. The service was great and we overall enjoyed our meal... we just expected it to be a little bit more special.

craftsteak could be better, lower corkage fee

Overall good food, service, nice atmosphere; however, corkage fee is outrageous - really. A bit slow being seated, people at check-in weren't extremely friendly, lots of no eye contact, restaurant was not full, so not sure why the delay. Once seated, good food and service. First impressions do matter, suggest the first contact people be reviewed or mystery shopped.

Disappointed

Maybe it was a problem with expectations, but a $56 filet mignon should be among the best I've ever had. It wasn't. I have had better steak at chain restaurants. If I had paid $50 per person for the total meal, I would have been extremely happy. At $90 per person, not so much.

Craftsteak

Got the tasting menu and the food was great however the ambiance was a little disappointing.

Average meal

Nice atmosphere and great first courses, but our main courses really lacked in seasoning and the service could have been better (ie, less rude and chaotic). Glad we visited and 'checked it off the list', but we won't be back.

It was ok...

This restaurant is a bit pricey for the offering: very busy & noisy. Too many tables which do not allow for any private conversations. We almost felt like we were sitting in a cafeteria in the main dining room. The tables by the bar are better. Food was good though and served on time.

Good, but not Amazing

Definitely try the risotto and lobster bisque. Service was pretty good, food was pretty good, but not worth $300 for two people.

Not consistant

I have been at Craft Steak house twice I really enjoyed the restaurant the first time but the second time the food was cold and at best average

Liked buffet at Wynn better

Over priced and over hyped. Wouldn't go back.

Craftsteak

I loved the ambiance & the bar. I was witih a group of 5, and we had raspberry & lemondrop martinis at the bar. Delicious! I had the filet & lobster with mushrooms. It took a very long time to receive our food, & when we did it was obvious that my dinner had been sitting under a heat lamp for a very long time. The mushrooms were completely dried out. The lobster was good. The stead (medium rare) was way overcooked. We sent the steak back, and the second steak we got was practically raw. I couldn't eat the steak or the mushrooms. But, the lobster was good.

service staff ruined our dinner

the food we received was fair to below average. But it was the staff that ruined our evening. From the hostess who told us to find a seat in the loud, crowded bar area while we waited to be seated (we had a reservation), to the food server who supposedly mixed up our meats, the waiter who wanted us to actually switch our plates, the assistant manager who tried to laugh it off and finally to the manager who was so busy to really talk to us and who did not have a business card on him, promised to call us the next day before we had a chance to call him, and ended up having an assistant manager call...certainly proved to us that we were not important guests to this restaurant.

Good Service, Decent Food, Over Priced

I was expecting a bit more from this restaurant. I was with my wife and 2 kids 13 and 15, when the waitor came over I asked him about a sampling menu that was on the menu, without hesitation he said that is the best way to go, so I did. We got quite a few appetizers, some good, some not so good; nothing great. The main course was a few selections of Kobi beef and Lobster. The Kobi was fair at best and the lobster was very good. Last course was desert which was the best part of the meal, we had a nice sampling of the desert menu and most of I would say was excellent. I eat out on a regular basis and for the $900 my meal cost I was very dissatisfied.

Just OK

The food was just ok and the service was similar. Not bad but they need to improve. My steak was a filet that was fatty. Dinner at Paris in the tower was very good. The filet there was wonderful. Craft is usually much better.

duh huh

arrogant hostess gave negative first impression which never recovered

Strange Experience

My wife and I decided to check out Craftsteak while in Vegas during a "sneakaway" trip before Christmas. The restaurant decor is very relaxing. The wait staff friendly and helpful. The food was very good, though the prices are exorbitant (was expecting that...lol). However... About 20 mins into our meal, a 60ish and 30ish father and son were seated next to us. After a few minutes it became apparent the younger man was very, VERY drunk. His language was littered with slurred F-bombs. When his father called his attention to it, the son became verbally abusive. This continued through the appetizer. Once the entree arrived, the man had progressed to passing out. He was lying on the bench seat snoring ! He roused once long enough to overturn a full water glass. Another time he -almost- didn't make his way out of the dining room (staggering) before throwing up and passing out in the bathroom stall (overheard the waiter telling the father). While I understand situations like this put restarant management in an awkward situation, one would think we might have at least been offered alternate seating (maybe I should have asked/demanded, I don't know). Instead, things continued as they were. Finally, having tolerated the "show" next door long enough, we decided to leave. The bill had no offer of a discount, nor was there a verbal apology. Only on actually beginning to walk out did the manager approach us and apologize. He said, "if I'd known you were leaving (we'd been there almost 2 hrs !!), I would have offered to take something off your bill". I looked him in the eye and said "that would be appreciated". His response - a blank stare, no words, and NO move to retrieve the bill !! I don't appreciate EMPTY apologies. We left with me fuming. We will NOT go back.

Leave Tasting Menu to the French!!

Had the Surf N Turf for 2--$380. OK as I expected to pay for excellence. Amuse Bouche-great now for 2 people we get; 3 FULL salads at one time-overkill!! Salads gone now 2 different steaks-Lobster-4 giant veg plates Now 4 deserts all at one time. Overkill--also ate at Joel Buchuron and Guy Savoy that week. Wonderful, leisurly dining-one course at a time. Each course better than the one before it. Not all dumped at one time to get cold and fill you up so quickly. And...the meals at both these places were even more expensive but I would pay again in a minute. I realize this is not a Classic French restaurant but perhaps the tasting menus should be left to them. I'm sure if I had ordered ala carte or had eaten at the bar I would have been raving about the food and not groaning about getting stuffed with cold food.

Disappointed

We are from out of town and as a present to my wife, I took her to the Cirque de soli and then wanted to treat her to a fabulos dinner. We were both disappointed with this "best of the best" dining experience. Our waiter was arogant and unknowledgeable of the food he was serving us. Our Steak was overcooked and cold, maybe luke warm, and the lobster tail wasn't worth eating. Even wine with our meal didn't disquise the fact that the kitchen had just "thrown" this out to us. I am not a fan of ala carte food for many reasons, the first being that they can and do charge for side dishes. How much is a baked potatoe really? So, two diners, two diners, wine.......almost $380 and they are still in buisness. Everytime I see "Tom" tear into one of the Top Chef contestants, I'd like to slap him! This is, after all, "His" resturant!

Horrible Service

Nice decor, dull bartender, slow service, cold food. Tom C you would have lost restuarant Wars !!!

New Year at Craftsteak

We eat at the hotspots in Vegas and LA all the time. Craftsteak wasn't worth the time or price. And the distorted pictures of cows as decor was disturbing at best.

Overpriced

It's not worth the money...

From bad to worse

We were at Craftsteak for our 30th aniversary last year. The service was horrible but the food was good. I gave an honest review and the manager graciously offered to make it up the next time we came to Las Vegas. That manager is not there now so I need to talk to the new manager. I have called four times to make a reservation but the manager never has time to talk to me as I am told she is too busy. I asked for her email and was given the wrong address. I could clearly hear someone telling the girl that answered the phone questions to ask me - I hope it was not the manager hiding behind a desk person. I guess the service got worse instead of better.

Craftsteak Does Not Honor its reservations

My reservation was not honored by Craftsteak. I made a reservation online through Las Vegas Restaurants.com for 6:30 p.m. 09/03/2011 for a party of 2. I received the confirmation that my reservation was accepted, but when my wife and I arrived at Craftsteak we were told Craftsteak put our reservation for 7:15 p.m. and if we wanted to eat there we would have to eat at the bar. When I questioned this time, the Craftsteak hostess tried to convince us that we must have mistaken the time and made me feel as though I was trying to now change the time of my reservation. My wife explained we had Sade concert tickets that start at 8:00 p.m. so why would we make a reservation for 7:15 p.m. We were still told by the hostess that we could eat at 7:15 p.m. or at the bar if we wanted to eat right away. My wife and I eat out about 2-4 times a month. We enjoy fine dining and do not worry when it comes to the cost. I will not try to eat at Craftsteak and will tell anyone and everyone of the sloppy way they do business.
